Three newly built holiday lodges at South Down Lodges, West Sussex, have benefitted from the sound attenuating ventilation capabilities of Titon’s Sonair units. Each of the two-bedroom properties were designed to adhere to strict noise regulations, limiting the level of decibels permitted to enter the bedrooms at night. As a result, each room was fitted with special acoustic glass windows, as well as a Sonair.

The collection of luxury lodges, which opens this Spring, is located on the outskirts of the village of Hassocks, near to South Downs National Park. The three properties on site were built by Retreat Homes Ltd during the summer of 2014.

Describing how the Titon Sonair units came to be used on the project, Sarah Tate, Lodge Manager, explained: “While the lodges are nicely located by the National Park, there is also a railway line and busy road nearby, which can be quite noisy. As a result, acoustic ventilation was necessary in order to adhere to sound attenuation requirements. We conducted extensive internet research to find the best product to meet the regulations, and it was Titon which ticked all the right boxes, with the Sonair meeting all the necessary building and sound requirements.”

Sonair is a low energy, wall-mounted input fan featuring touch control with an LCD display. It has been designed for use in buildings where noise or air pollution presents a problem. The units are mechanical input ventilators that can also provide background ventilation as an alternative to trickle vents. Independently tested by the BRE, Sonair offers exceptional sound attenuation up to 56dB, while units can be individually operated or used as a part of Titon’s unique Air Comfort Control (ACC) system.
